1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Missing Pages website, web app, and related services operated under the Missing Pagesname. References to "we," "us," or "our" refer to Olatomiwa Bifarin, an individual developer, operating Missing Pages before any entity formation.
The service is in a closed alpha/beta stage, so product features, data handling workflows, and infrastructure may change as the product is tested and refined.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account information from Google sign-in, such as your name, email address, Google account identifier, and profile image.
- Content you upload or submit, including Goodreads CSV files, reading history, shelves, ratings, prompts, selected books, and support messages.
- Content generated through the service, including book metadata, knowledge-gap analyses, and AI-generated essays stored in your account.
- Technical and usage information such as session cookies, device and browser details, timestamps, and basic request or error logs needed to operate, secure, and debug the service.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information when you:
- Sign in with Google.
- Upload a Goodreads export or otherwise submit content.
- Use atlas, enrichment, essay, and related product features.
- Interact with the app, customer support, or security systems.
4. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Authenticate users and maintain account sessions.
- Parse uploaded Goodreads exports and build user libraries.
- Enrich book records, generate embeddings, map books, and produce AI-assisted analyses and essays.
- Operate, secure, maintain, debug, and improve the service and its product features.
- Review beta usage, product feedback, and quality issues so we can evaluate whether and how the product should continue developing.
- Respond to support requests and enforce our terms.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect rights and safety.
We may use user content and usage information to improve the product, prompts, ranking, and feature quality. We do not use user content to train foundational models.
5. How We Share Information
We may share information in the following circumstances:
- With service providers and processors that help run the product, such as hosting, database, infrastructure, logging, authentication, and support providers.
- With third parties needed to deliver a feature you request, such as authentication providers, AI processing providers, and book or metadata providers.
- If required by law, legal process, or a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect users, the public, or the service.
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not use your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you sign in with Google, Google provides authentication and basic profile information subject to Google's own terms and privacy policies.
6. AI and Third-Party Processing
Some product features require sending limited data to third-party providers so the service can function. For example, prompts, book-related content, or selected reading-history data may be sent to AI or metadata providers to generate outputs or enrich records.
Third-party providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their independent practices, but we try to limit disclosures to what is reasonably necessary for the requested feature.
7. Cookies and Session Technology
Missing Pages uses cookies and similar session technologies to keep users signed in, remember session state, protect the app, and support core functionality. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the service may not work.
8. Do Not Track and Third-Party Tracking
Missing Pagesdoes not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals with a separate treatment, because there is no universally accepted standard for doing so.
We do not knowingly permit third parties to collect personal information about your online activities over time and across non-Missing Pages websites for cross-context behavioral advertising through the service. That said, service providers may receive limited technical data as needed for hosting, security, analytics, or infrastructure support under their own policies.
9. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain accounts, provide requested features, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal or security obligations. Backup or archived copies may persist for a limited time after deletion.
Because Missing Pages is in closed alpha/beta, we may reset, migrate, modify, or remove some beta data if needed to test, troubleshoot, or restructure the product.
10. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, export, or restriction of certain personal information. You may also ask questions about how your information is handled.
To submit a request, contact us at bifarinthefifth@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
11. Children's Privacy
Missing Pages is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us and we will review and delete it as appropriate.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. International Use
Missing Pages is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where service providers operate.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted here with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the service after an update becomes effective means you accept the revised policy.
As an early-stage product, our practices may evolve. If they change materially, we will update this page to reflect the new terms.
